Long Weekends Bring Boom for Beauty Treatment

There is no better time for working women to transform themselves than the long holidays, when many of them rush to book plastic surgery and skin care treatment. Clinics report booming business over the long weekend that includes May Day on Monday, and the long weekend starting next Friday, the Buddha s Birthday.
One cosmetic clinic in Gangnam, Seoul says many working women want to get double eyelid surgery or nose jobs over the long weekend since it takes a relatively short time to recover from those operations.  We have 2.5 times more patients booked for surgery on the first day of the long weekend than usual, and 80 percent of them are working women, it says.

Skincare also takes time. One skin clinic in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province says booking rates have almost tripled for the long weekends. Many working women come to have freckles removed or their skin peeled. An equally large number of working women go to ophthalmologists for Lasik operations.

Then there is an increasingly large group of working women who go on fasts over the period. A 23-year-old woman who plans to go to a fasting center on May 4 explains,  I ve become interested in fasting because of problems with my stomach. So I decided to spend the long weekend at a fasting center in the suburbs, where I can fast and relax as well.
